Student Leadership Council
FIRST RGV’s Student Leadership Council (SLC) is a program for high school juniors and seniors within the Rio Grande Valley. This empowering program provides members the opportunity to develop life-long leadership skills while supporting the non-profit’s mission of developing impactful programs to provide increased opportunities for students in our service area.
Students focus on understanding themselves as leaders and setting personal and group goals to develop their leadership skills through quarterly meetings, volunteer opportunities, and student ambassador roles on behalf of FIRST RGV.
At the end of every school year, students present a capstone project called, Learning to Lead, which brings together a year of learning and experiences. Our members will present their projects to the membership and to the members of the FIRST RGV Advisory Board at an annual dinner. Certificates of Participation will be issued and formal letters of recommendation will be issued by FIRST RGV in the names of the members that successfully complete a year of service.
