McAllen, Texas – The McAllen Independent School District received twenty laptops as part of a grant from the DELL Corporation of Austin. These laptops are awarded to the district to support a new FIRST Lego League (FLL) team that has a majority of female students. Students participating in a FLL team are trained to demonstrate skills in programming, social skills, robot construction and leadership skills as part of an exciting and engaging robotics program.
DELL, Texas Workforce Commission and may others provide grant funds to the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) as part of their continued support to grow science, technology, engineering and math careers in Texas. We are honored to help build the future workforce through our exciting program.
FIRST robotics is in over 88 countries around the world and has more than 250,000 students enrolled. Here in the Rio Grande Valley, we have over 2,500 students enrolled in programs from grades K-12.
